UCSB Day 4

Wow… typing the title reminded me that its already our third day here in Santa Barbara!!! And today marks our first weekend! What do you think we will be doing… *drumroll* We are going DOWNTOWN. Yes downtown. The mentioning of the that word triggered the singing of the song used in an old advertisement for Downtown East (now called E-Hub): Downtown, everything’s waiting for you~ (something like that)

So how are we going to get to downtown? We’ll have to take our first ever public bus ride here in Santa Barbara. We can either take bus 11 or 24x which will take about 1.5 and 0.5 hour to get to the destination respectively. But before that, we will still have to travel down our little hill to get to civilisation. Here goes some photos:

As bus 11 came first, we boarded it. The fare goes like US$1.47 for a trip regardless of the distance. So off we went. Along the way, if the bus happen to be ahead of schedule, it will stop at the bus stop to wait till it’s about right before moving off. During then, the bus driver can even read newspapers lol.

Took a nap on the bus and eventually reached downtown. Hunted the place down after asking around and they do indeed have lotsa shops (like shop-houses) packed in that region. Got a few stuffs for the ladies back at home and a few souvenirs. We also had lunch there at an Italian restaurant which was really quite awesome. They had free garlic bread on the table for us to eat while waiting and those breads are good. I took a bit too much that it kinda displaced my stomach for the main course that was to come. Awesome. Ah, we also chance upon some carollers along the way. They sang great. I was afraid that if i video them or something, i might be asked to donate so i refrained myself from doing so. My friends had captured a bit of their singing though. Oh right, in one of the shops, I ACTUALLY LEFT MY TAB ON THE STACKED CLOTHES!!! Luckily i saw another person holding onto it so I approached the person and he returned it. PHEW!!!

At about 5plus, we started making our way back. As it turns dark rather fast, the way back was already dark by the time we were to walk up our little hill. Then this patriotic group of five started singing Singapore National Day Songs along the way up the hill. Songs were sang with so much pride and gusto that it must have drove every living creatures away.

Came back and write the postcards. After that was dinner which composed of microwaveables meal set. They don't taste too good in my opinion. And they are entirely not filling at all. So i boiled another potato to fill this tummy of mine. As suggested by Karmila, one of the five, I added butter to half of the remaining potato, squash and mix them. Pepper was also added later and wow! It tasted like mash potatoes sold outside!!! Heh!

Here are the ingredients lol…
